Refuge

One of my favorite things is personal devotion time and getting into my John C. Maxwell, “Leadership Promises For Everyday” – Occasionally, I’ll be posting my devotion revelations…this one is especially good, even though this is a leadership devotion – this is for EVERYONE!

Psalm 91:1-2(NIV)

1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

Psalm 91 is one my most favorite passages in the Bible.  It has become a running joke at Liberty Grove Assembly of God (We’re on Twitter too @LibertyGroveAG), every time I get into God’s word, THAT scripture becomes my favorite…I believe that it should be the same for EVERYONE…we should all get excited when we open God’s word.

Anyway…there are 6 Promises throughout this text as outlined by John Maxwell but I want to add some revelation that I have received in addition to this, we should all be able to pick up on some of this and use it…I believe ALL of God’s word is applicable to our lives exactly where we are…theology alone and the words in the Bible alone are fruitless if we can’t or don’t apply them.

1. God’s Promise Some times it doesn’t feel like you have anyone that you can talk to, like you’re totally alone.  With Christ it NEVER has to be that way.
2. God’s Protection  As you take risks or step out, God keeps you safe.
3. God’s Peace  You don’t have to feel insecure in unknown territory.
4. God’s Perspective  God gives you an eternal view of life that keeps you steady.
5. God’s Provision  Regardless of your needs, God meets them.
6. God’s Power  In adversity, God delivers and helps you reach your goals.
